Weekly classes for the 2023-2024 year
Valhalla Fine Arts is offering a program of cello instruction for beginners. All ages are welcome, including adults. These sessions are suitable for students who took the introductory cello series in the spring and/or fall, as well as for new students with no previous experience. Our instructor is beloved local musician Heather Huether, who has decades of teaching experience.
Students will receive weekly instruction. Each month will have three group classes and one private lesson. Parents of children aged 4 – 11 are expected to attend with their children, as well as taking responsibility for ensuring care of the instrument and follow-through of class assignments.
Fees are per term, and are assessed based on tuition for 9 group classes at $25 each and three individual lessons at $40 each, plus a Valhalla Fine Arts administrative registration fee of $30. Fees may be paid by installments.

Instrument rentals available
Thanks to a generous donation by Ross Hill, a part-time resident of Hills BC and proprietor of Aeolian Strings in Calgary, VFA has a stable of affordable rental cellos for classes and home practice. These are available on a sliding scale ($20 – $40/month).
Heather Huether — cello
Heather is a cello soloist, teacher, chamber music and orchestral performer with over 34 years of experience. She studied at Mt Royal Conservatory of Music, New England Conservatory of Music and Longy School of Music. A founding member of the Valhalla Fine Arts Society and co-founder of the Valhalla Summer School of Music, Heather enjoys teaching privately and is dedicated to the enjoyment of music for all ages. She looks forward to helping cello students accomplish great things while having fun and learning to love music!
Additional Individual Lessons: Heather is also available for additional weekly one-on-one lessons at $40/hr.
