Cello Symposium

The Cello Symposium is a very concentrated program for the rapidly advancing and dedicated young cellist. The Symposium takes place at the home of John Kadz and Johanne Perron in Hills, BC, 18 km north of New Denver.

Sunday August 4 – Saturday August 10, 2024
All accepted students are eligible for a full tuition scholarship thanks to the generosity of a bequest from the Beverly Renaud estate.

Program Info
Symposium sessions take place at the home of John Kadz and Johanne Perron in Hills, BC (18 km north of New Denver). The components of the program include daily private lessons, technique classes, study classes, masterclasses and a daily cello ensemble class. The demands of the program require at least three hours a day of practice. The program begins on the evening of Sunday August 4 and concludes with an afternoon performance on Saturday August 10, 2024.

Activities
Recreational activities are also an important part of Symposium. These include daily morning physical exercise, swimming in Slocan Lake, ping pong, badminton, archery, tennis, biking, hiking, boating and kayaking.

Location, Meals & Accommodations
The Kadz/Perron Hills property is a ten-acre parcel with individual places for all students to practice. Students can be accommodated in our guest cabin (with adult supervision) or they can stay in nearby B&B’s or campgrounds. Meals are the responsibility of the student.

Cost: $800 tuition, $150 for optional accommodation in the onsite guest cabin. All accepted students will receive scholarship funds covering full tuition costs thanks to the generosity of the Beverly Renaud Scholarship Fund. A $30 VFA registration fee is also payable.
