Corazón’s Spring 2014 Concert

Once again the Valhalla Fine Arts Community Concert Series will be hosting the inimitable Corazón Vocal Ensemble for their annual spring concert in our community, being held this year on Tuesday April 29th. Corazón is a 62-member auditioned choir based in Nelson, BC. Allison Girvan leads this dynamic group of youth in a variety of energetic and inspiring works with a strong world music flavour and a social justice foundation. The performance will be in the evening at Silverton Memorial Hall, and admission is by donation.

Corazón sings from the heart and has in turn won the hearts of many Canadian audiences in the ten years since it began. This talented and motivated group of young singers has gained a reputation for their blend, intonation and their world music repertoire.

Corazón’s goal is to gain a deeper understanding of  themselves and others by experiencing music from many cultures in many languages. The ensemble feels that by exploration in rehearsal and presentation in concert we are all, singers and listeners alike, drawn together to embrace our similarities and share in the celebration of our differences.

The group will be travelling to the Kaleid Choral Festival in Ontario in May to take on the prestigious position of “Youth Choir in Residence,” performing in showcase concerts alongside internationally renowned a capella sensation Rajaton.
