Fundraising Initiatives
Holly Wiseman Memorial Piano Fund
The VSSFAS is thrilled to have been able to purchase a phenomenal C-7 Yamaha Concert Grand piano during 2005, dedicated to the memory of Holly Wiseman. Holly Wiseman, Heather Huether’s sister, began the VSSM Children’s Music Program in our first year. Her strength, enthusiasm, hard work and energy have left a lasting imprint on the Valhalla Summer School in many ways. The piano is currently housed at the Silverton Memorial Hall and is a phenomenal community and music school asset. Donations to help pay off the balance of the piano purchase are most welcome.
Hands on for the Arts
Now in its sixth year, this silent auction is held at Villa Dome Quixote during the week of the Valhalla Summer School of Music. Thanks to the generous donations of goods and services by local community members and others, this auction raises funds to help boost programming revenues for the VSSM, including the funds available for scholarships for talented needy students.
Summer Performances
Suzuki Valhalla Insitute Solo Recitals
Monday August 4 - Thursday August 7, Lucerne School Library and Multi-purpose Rooms, 1:00 - 1:30 pm . Brief and relatively informal, these recitals will be held throughout the week. They feature violin, viola and cello students playing their favourite solo numbers.
Suzuki Valhalla Institute Final Concerts
Friday August 8, 2006, times TBA, Silverton Memorial Hall. Admission by donation. These are the final ensemble and mass performances of all Suzuki violinists, violists and cellists. They will play a selection of their common repertoire in large groups, and smaller ensembles will perform as well.
